Hard News Activity #1

Story One

A man is dead and two firemen are in hospital after a crash at the Rollins Avenue and Post Road intersection yesterday.

The firemen were responding to a false alarm and have around $90,000 damage to their truck.

Authorities haven’t said who was at fault for the death of Charles Welles and the unknown condition of the firemen.

Story Two

Big cars are safer and have a 41 percent less chance of having an accident according to a report from a Canberra institute yesterday.

Many small or specialty cars have the worst injury and repair records out of all models as they are 30 percent higher than average.

The Highway Loss Data Institute claims small cars have an increased amount of injury claim frequencies and repair losses compared to larger cars.

Story Three

A Victorian person chokes to death on hot dogs every five days on average according to a Journal of the Victorian Medical Association article yesterday.

A researcher said children under four shouldn’t “be given a whole hot dog to eat” as it is “perfect to block a child’s airway”.

Lollies, nuts, grapes, apples, carrots and popcorn are risky for kids up to 9 years old and hot dogs shouldn’t be cut crosswise.
