Hard News Activity #3 - Sushi Das Speech

The ABC/ RMIT Fact Check Unit will expand into Asia next year, after receiving the $1 million Skelton Award.

Fact-checking is a booming industry, as the unit listed Vietnam and India as possible locations to find collaborations with other fact-checking units.

And there are plans for global expansion according to the Unit’s Chief of Staff Sushi Das, who announced the award at RMIT University yesterday.

Das said the Unit plans to add to the 150 accredited fact-checking offices globally after receiving the prestigious award.

“We have never gotten the verdict wrong,” Das said.

The Unit pledges to maintain transparency and counter the rise of spin doctors, which Das said began with Jeff Kennett’s stint as Victorian Premier.
